Heaven Can Wait Animal Society, an established top-rated nonprofit veterinary provider located in Las Vegas, has an opening for a full-time associate veterinarian. The ideal associate is passionate about pet health equity and aligns with the practice of incremental veterinary care. We provide high-impact, lifesaving care to some of Las Vegas’s most disenfranchised populations with our Spay & Neuter and Wellness Clinics.
About Heaven Can Wait Animal Society
We are a longstanding nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization committed to serving our community’s animals and their families through low-cost, high-quality spay & neuter services and affordable preventative care. We firmly believe the services we provide keep animals healthy and safe in homes where they're loved, reduce shelter intake & euthanasia, and decrease the burden of pet overpopulation on our community.
Through educating our community on the importance of these services for animal health, as well as reducing intake and euthanasia rates at our local shelters, we’re making a measurable impact on the state of animal welfare in the Las Vegas valley.
For our clients, Heaven Can Wait provides both affordability and an uncompromising level of safety and customer service. We provide extensive communication and follow-up. Our large, experienced team of licensed veterinary technicians have honed their skills in high-volume surgery with dozens of years of combined experience.
Our Medical Director has personally performed over 100,000 spay & neuter surgeries and is passionate about supporting veterinarians’ continued growth and development in surgery and in general practice.
About the Role
We are looking for an associate veterinarian to support our affordable, high quality Spay & Neuter and Wellness Clinics. This role would spend two days supporting each clinic, for a total of four days per week; our clinics are never open on weekends.
Our Spay & Neuter Clinic – supported by a team of 6 full time licensed veterinary technicians, in addition to several relief LVTs and full time veterinary assistants – serves 60-100 pets, rescue and foster animals, and community cats Monday-Thursday. Two to three surgeons are scheduled at our Spay & Neuter Clinic each day.
Our Wellness Clinic – focused on providing affordable preventive care to disenfranchised pets and families – is supported by a full time licensed veterinary technician, veterinary assistant, and receptionist.
A Positive Work Environment and Sustainable Pace for Veterinary Staff
At Heaven Can Wait we value our employees’ work and personal lives. We avoid ancillary services such as walk-in appointments, grooming, overnight hospitalized pets and boarding. We do not provide inpatient services.
There are no production or sales quotas or expectations.
We also strive to support the need for personal fulfillment by providing opportunities to support our community through community events and partnerships with other nonprofit organizations. We strive to host a free Saturday Community Vaccine Clinic for high-needs neighborhoods on a quarterly basis.
Salary Information: We take pride in offering competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. It includes medical, paid vacation, retirement plan, paid continuing education, and generous discounts on pet veterinary services.
