Heaven Can Wait Animal Society Awarded $350,000 Grant from The Mug-Z-Moo Fund to Support Lifesaving Spay/Neuter Efforts

Las Vegas, NV, June 2026

Heaven Can Wait Animal Society is proud to announce that we have been awarded a $350,000 grant from The Mug-Z-Moo Fund to support lifesaving spay and neuter efforts for animals throughout Southern Nevada.

Created by an anonymous donor with a passion for expanding access to spay and neuter services nationwide, The Mug-Z-Moo Fund is dedicated to supporting animal welfare organizations working to address the root causes of pet overpopulation through preventative care. We are incredibly grateful for their commitment to helping communities create a future where fewer animals are born into uncertain circumstances.

This generous grant will support Heaven Can Wait’s continued efforts to provide affordable, accessible spay and neuter services, including our Spay & Neuter Clinic for owned pets that helps remove barriers to care for pet owners in our community. By expanding access to these critical services, we can help prevent unplanned litters, reduce the number of animals entering shelters and rescue systems, and keep pets with the families who love them.

“Every spay and neuter surgery represents a step toward a future where fewer animals face uncertain outcomes,” said Rachel Bergren, Executive Director of Heaven Can Wait Animal Society. “We are incredibly thankful to The Mug-Z-Moo Fund for recognizing the importance of prevention and investing in the services that help animals before they ever reach a crisis.”

Community cats are an important part of this work, too. Through our Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) efforts, outdoor cats receive lifesaving sterilization and care that improves their quality of life while helping reduce the number of kittens born without homes waiting for them.

Through our community cat efforts alone, we have already provided more than 3,600 spay and neuter procedures for community cats from January 2026 through June 2026. It is estimated that each cat spayed or neutered can help prevent up to 10 kittens from being born into uncertain or potentially unsafe conditions.

Anesthetized community cats are in a line being prepped for spay and neuter surgeries by veterinary technicians in the clinic.

“Our community cats deserve compassion, care, and solutions that improve their lives while helping create a healthier community for all animals,” said Nathaly Medina, Community Cat Manager at Heaven Can Wait Animal Society. “TNR is one important piece of the larger effort to reduce pet overpopulation, and accessible spay and neuter services make lasting change possible.”

Since 2000, Heaven Can Wait Animal Society has been committed to ending unnecessary euthanasia through high-quality, affordable spay/neuter services, community cat programs, and accessible veterinary care. Investments like this allow us to continue expanding lifesaving programs and ensuring more animals have the opportunity to remain healthy, safe, and loved.

We extend our deepest gratitude to The Mug-Z-Moo Fund for this extraordinary investment in prevention. Together, we are helping create a kinder, more sustainable future for animals and the people who care for them.
